Somatic Experiencing

Trauma, whether it’s physical or not, gets “stuck” in the body. Even emotional and psychological trauma will disrupt the rhythm of the nervous system, causing a person to feel overwhelmed, stressed, depressed or anxious for years after the traumatic event. The body will be stuck in this “survival mode” until the nervous system’s natural flow is restored. Somatic Experiencing is a type of therapy that addresses the mind/body connection and aims to awaken the inherent wisdom within the body that is available for healing.
